Promise of regeneration

As neighbours helped us extinguish flames of a bushfire threatening our farm in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, we feared for Quails nesting under a bush on the edge of the timberline.
With bushes close by already alight, the hen bravely stayed on her eggs, which hatched several days after. The chicks were soon able to follow their parents into the stubble in search of food, giving our community hope for our own lives returning to normal after the fire’s devastation.
About the artist
Tierney is a realist painter who paints mainly in oils or acrylic, sometimes enhanced by collage, also enjoying pen and wash, watercolour and black and white drawing. Her favourite subject is landscape inspired by the beauty of the Australian bush and rural life.
