I chose a palette of colours to represent the crops and products grown and manufactured on the Western Downs. Wheat, oats, sorghum, cotton, cattle, coal and gas to mention a few. Our assets can benefit all. With good stewardship of the land practiceby most farmers, graziers, and miners we can enjoy the magic nature has to offer. It was a joy to paint a landscape representing our district this year, as we are experiencing an abundant season. This contrasts with the many years of drought in the recent past, thus proving the regenerative powers of nature.

About the artist

Hinz is based in Drillham on the Western Downs. She gains inspiration from the grand vistas, ancient rock formations, rural landscapes and hidden corners that are part of her daily life. She works predominately with acrylics, inks, oils and pigments sourced from her own property.
