Artwork Statement
This disjointed patchwork of disordered landscapes gives you an idea of the whole. It is not my view of the world but rather views of my backyard. My studio is meditation. A disconnect from a world of disruptors and disruptions, of disturbance, disarray and discomfort, where telling the stories of the mundane ‘everyday’ remains a focus.
About the artist
Cindy Grimes is a long-time resident of the Western Downs Region. At the heart of her arts practice is place. She is inspired by the natural and built environment of her Western Downs backyard and its interaction with family and community. Cindy aims to tell the stories of her rural reality in her acrylic paintings utilising a saturated palette.
