Our overseas children remind us, “Australia is at the end of the world.” Visits are rare. Our Bunyas home is a place of peace and solitude. But recently our solitude was joyously disrupted! The Welcome mat took a work-out! The family flew in to visit. Oh! what fun we all had! Suddenly, we had a cricket team! We have a roster to mow the lawn on zero-turn! There were stories galore! Artistic masterpieces covered the fridge. And then all became quiet again. It is not the same. Hospitality is transforming. New memories linger in the rainforest now. Fresh perspectives about our natural world abound!
As an artist, Meg Noack’s creative inspiration usually takes time. Noak finds artistic joy to be reflective and meditative. So, when her family travelled a long distance to visit – “What now?” she asked herself. From this experience she found a new inspiration source. Noack discovered that joy and creativity percolated through lively cross-generational fun and laughter. Wild colour even common clutter served as inspiration. She felt her artistic horizons widen by challenging herself to view and work in a different style.
