Artwork Statement
Rain falls on the Bunyas and the mountain exhales its abundance – slowly at first, then all at once. Water gathers momentum, carving its way towards Myall Creek, carrying stories from the range through rainforest, bush, grassland and black soil plains. Cropped landscapes are silenced, town boundaries are drowned and thresholds crossed. Through printmaking, I turn to the earth itself as subject and substrate. Sediment from the bed of the creek and rainwater flooded the printmaking plates, echoing the weight and movement of water. Too much can disrupt, leaving its muddy mark across the land.
