Artwork Statement

This work is a homage to the eucalyptus: a single tree acting as both subject and collaborator. Its leaves dye and imprint the cloth; its canopy is translated through the slow act of carving lino and the pressure of hand-printing; the traces of the leaves are held and heightened through stitch. These processes of gathering, dyeing, printing and sewing unfold as a ritual of attention and repetition and the resulting work is quiet celebration rather than spectacle, a slow accumulation of marks, the passage of time, and the generosity of a humble tree.
