Every day out here has its own rhythm – the same routine, rain or shine, whether it is a day of work or practice for the rodeo. That’s the ritual to me. This piece is that moment the breath, the recovery, the pause, despite the revelry. The rush of competing, win or lose, the effort and work is worth it. The adrenaline, the risk. Without the ritual of the relentless days the revelry wouldn’t mean quite so much.
About the artist
Emily Bramich is the artist behind ‘Big Chums Art’. Bramich’s practice began in childhood, drawing alongside her brother and this grew from pet portraits for family and friends into soulful watercolour practice, loose brush work, soft washes, and warm tones that capture character on paper – each piece a story, painted with care, as she paints from the heart.
