This artwork celebrates the transposition of ritual and revelry throughout one’s life. Reading, once an after-school chore, is, thirty years later a hard-won ritual of relaxation. Revelry ten years ago was late nights with friends; now: a coffee enjoyed in silence. Choosing presence over obligation, imagination over distraction, and rest over expectation becomes its own kind of festivity. Sometimes the most meaningful celebrations are the ones we keep entirely to ourselves.
