Artwork Statement
This piece shows the relationship between singing in everyday life and during important life celebrations. It shows the connection between people in different occasions, the bright fire lit moments with friends, daring them to sing along with the crowd, the unrestrained belting of show tunes on the daily, and the underlying connection in every situation. Singing brings people together, putting smiles on their faces, whether they be attending a revelry, or simply executing a daily ritual.
About the artist
Mia Wilce is a young politically centred, mixed media artist, who works with mediums like acrylic, water colour, graphite, clay and fabric. Commonly making pieces combining multiple or all of these mediums into an artwork. Using these mediums, she portrays themes of human desire, greed, control and the power of connection.
