Seeking Artists that live and/or work in the Western Downs Region to participate in a professional development weekend.

The Western Downs Wildflowering Artist Retreat is a unique creative opportunity for Western Downs Artists to enjoy natural landscapes, learn more about local native wildflowers and trees, learn techniques from industry professionals and have some of their work showcased in an exhibition at Dogwood Crossing, Miles.

Over the retreat weekend you will get to stay at the historically significant Possum Park, be led by an experienced guide from ecotourism group, Boobook Explore on a tour of the Gurulmundi Wildflower circuit in the Gurulmundi state forest. Your creativity will be nurtured with a series of workshops lead by two experienced artists and designers and the opportunity to connect with other artists in your region.

The retreat includes:
• A guided wildflower tour around the Gurulmundi Wildflower circuit
• Talks and workshops with artists and curators from the Wildflowering by Design exhibition
• Two nights’ accommodation at the historic Possum Park bush retreat (in cabins and bunkers)
• Lunch and dinner each day
• Coffee, tea, water and snacks throughout
• A materials starter pack

The retreat will be led by Wild/flower Woman Dr Sue Davis with guest artists including Joolie Gibbs and Edith Rewa, and co-curator Lisa Chandler.
The cost of the retreat will be heavily subsidised with participants asked to contribute just $150 and own breakfasts.

Who should apply?
Participants should be aged 18 years and older, with some background experience in a form of arts practice and an interest in nature-based arts.
