Regional Artists’ Exhibition Masterclass 

Artist Statements Masterclass  

Join Dr Alexandra Lawson to discuss a professional approach to writing artist statements and responding to a theme. This masterclass will discuss language, audience, tone, and establish the difference between a bio, artist statement, and artwork statement. It will consider approaches to the identification and discussion of key themes in your work, and how to use these to respond to a theme. There is also an option to receive feedback on statements you have written.    

Dr Alexandra Lawson is based in Toowoomba, Queensland, where she completed her PhD at UniSQ in visual art in 2015. As a lecturer at UniSQ, and Director of Alexandra Lawson Gallery, Lawson has experience as a, writer, curator, and art dealer.  

What to bring: 

• Notepad and pen 
• Copy of your current Artist Statement/s (optional) – If possible, please email this to dogwood.crossing@wdrc.qld.gov.au prior to the workshop

• 3 hour workshop 
• Feedback on your current Artist Statement (optional) 
• Morning tea
