On behalf of the Western Downs Regional Council, I am pleased that we are able to support the ninth instalment of our region's premier showcase for local artists: The Regional Artists' Exhibition.

This year’s exhibition theme, Kaleidoscope, explores the endless cycle of creation and destruction that plays out as things fall apart and are put back together, and has challenged artists to reflect on the broader cycles and patterns that unfold in nature and in people themselves.

The exhibition gives us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent of our local creatives, which is showcased in the many varied and unique works submitted in a broad range of media, including painting, photography, video, works on paper, ceramics and textiles.

Kaleidoscope is the culmination of the collaboration and vision of our region’s three major art galleries – Dogwood Crossing, Gallery 107 @ Dalby, and Lapunyah Art Gallery. It’s wonderful to see the Regional Artists’ Exhibition grow this year with its rotation to Dogwood Crossing, Miles.

Congratulations to all those involved in the delivery of another fantastic Regional Artists’ Exhibition – it really is the people that make it.

I am certain you will find artworks in this year’s collection which will inspire and captivate, and I invite you all to enjoy the creations of some of the Western Downs locals whose passion literally adds a splash of colour to our vibrant, active communities.
